The complex projects undertaken by Lexander presented many challenges and a decision was taken to grow an engineering capability by the formation of a sister company, to reduce dependence on other third party contractors.
This enabled Lexander to provide bespoke engineering solutions to fulfil client requirements precisely.

Lexander Engineering Limited was formed in 2003 to support the parent company Lexander Limited for the provision of engineering plant equipment and services.

The main strategic objectives of the company were to:
Develop QMS and achieve industry standards necessary to deliver engineering for biotech, pharmaceutical and healthcare markets

Management
Nicholas Alexander provided technical know-how and coordinated the management team.
An engineering manager was recruited to coordinate a multidisciplinary team of engineers and developers.
Management Systems
Business and quality management systems (QMS) were implemented in accordance with ISO 9001.
Funding
Lexander Limited, the parent company, invested in Lexander Engineering Limited to produce plant and equipment. In addition, numerous grants contributed to the funding package to establish the business.
R&D
Lexander Engineering Limited engaged in full product lifecycle development which included the research and development (R&D) of innovative solutions, testing of working models and prototyping using fabrication and moulding techniques.
Manufacture
Lexander Engineering Limited completed all of the design and documentation for each project in-house. Manufacturing of parts and components was largely completed by specialist engineering firms. Lexander Engineering Limited undertook full assembly and validation of completed equipment.
